Planning & Transportation

This Committee, serviced by the Town Clerk and attended by the RFO, meets monthly. Its policy is to consider planning applications and to submit responses to Sevenoaks District Council (or occasionally KCC and adjacent authorities) for which there is delegated authority from Council, in the light of established Governmental, County and District polices, and the Village Design Statement, which has been adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance. Finance

This Committee, serviced by the Responsible Finance Officer and attended by the Town Clerk, meets every month; its policy is to provide sound financial control within the framework of the Audit and Accounts Regulations 2011. It receives, and considers for authorisation where appropriate under general delegated authority, details of every item of income and expenditure. Find out more…

Open Spaces

This committee manages the Council’s amenity sites and activities (including street lighting), its broad policy being to balance achievable standards within available funding, utilising the four ground staff and cleaners. It meets 6 times per year and is serviced by the Deputy Town Clerk, and attended by the Head Groundsman. Find out more…

Eden Valley Tourism Forum

The Forum, which meets normally twice a year, is serviced by the Tourism and Admin Officer. Its policy is to encourage tourism, in its widest sense, for the benefit of the local economy. Find out more…

Eden Valley Footpaths Group

Serviced by the Tourism and Admin Officer, this group meets twice a year, to which representatives of the Kent Public Rights of Way team, the Surrey Rights of Way team and the Ramblers Association are invited. Its policy is to encourage walking for recreation and health by helping to maintain the local footpath network to the highest standards achievable within its resources, over and above the basic maintenance provided by Kent County Council. Forward Planning

This Committee meets twice a year and is serviced by the Town Clerk. Its role is to make policy recommendations over the medium term to Council, with particular reference to capital projects at the Spring meeting, and in Autumn to factors which would affect the setting of budgets. It has no delegated authority and no budget. Find out more…

Emergency Planning

This Committee, serviced by the Committee members supported by the Deputy Clerk, meets three times per annum and sometimes has practical exercises. Its policy is to work in very close cooperation with Sevenoaks District and Kent County Council Emergency Planning Sections, providing local knowledge and support.  There is a small budget, for radio licences etc, but the Committee has no delegated authority.
