Emergency Planning Committee Membership is normally 5 plus two ex officio and numerous co-opted volunteers
This Committee, serviced by the Committee members supported by the Deputy Clerk, meets three times per annum and sometimes has practical exercises. Its policy is to work in very close cooperation with Sevenoaks District and Kent County Council Emergency Planning Sections, providing local knowledge and support. There is a small budget, for radio licences etc, but the Committee has no delegated authority. Although a Council Committee, it is so structured so that volunteers etc working under its instruction have insurance cover. In the event of an emergency the committee is authorised to act without waiting for any form of Council approval, in co-operation with, and under the broad guidance of, SDC and other emergency services.
