Finance Committee Membership is normally 8 councillors plus two ex officio members.

This Committee, serviced by the Responsible Finance Officer and attended by the Town Clerk, meets every month; its policy is to provide sound financial control within the framework of the Audit and Accounts Regulations 2011. It receives, and considers for authorisation where appropriate under general delegated authority, details of every item of income and expenditure. It receives the collated budget information from other committees and makes recommendations to Council on the size of the proposed precept, in the light of tax base information and any policy adopted by Council arising from the deliberations of the Forward Planning Committee.

Specific delegation from Council is agreed as and when necessary to cover time critical matters. The Internal Auditor report, sent to the Chairman is regularly reported to this Committee. Details of financial procedures are contained in the Financial Regulations and in Core Class 6.
