Council appoints Planning Consultant

The District Council Planning Advisory Committee will be considering the draft Local Plan,  (Regulation 19) at its meeting on 22 November.  It is proposing the inclusion of the Green Belt sites HO189 and HO223 on Four Elms Road, Edenbridge, for 350 housing units and includes land for a Health Centre and School.   The proposals for the whole district meet 70% of its housing target over the 20 year period.

The Town Council is aware that developers who have submitted site for development around Edenbridge which have not been included, will challenge the results of the draft plan at the public hearing.  To protect against unwanted or excessive development, Town Council members have appointed a planning consultant to formulate the Council’s response to the draft, with a further option to appoint them to represent the town at the Public Examination.

If agreed at the District Planning Advisory Committee, a further consultation is proposed to consider  strategic greenbelt greenfield sites received during the last consultation period.   Land between Hartfield Road and Hever Road HO412 and MX62 will be included in this consultation.
