Edenbridge celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Beacon

On Thursday 2 June we helped light up the UK with our community beacon as we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Thank you to everyone that came along to join our picnic at Stangrove Park and lighting of the beacon. What a turnout there was, and what fun we all had celebrating her Majesty The Queen’s 70 year reign!

Everyone enjoyed music from Edenbridge Town Band who did a fantastic job getting us all in the celebratory spirit – BIG thank you!

Special thanks also to the Bonfire Society for making the Beacon lighting happen, all of the volunteers that made the event possible as well as stallholders that came along to provide food, refreshments and entertainment, including the Rotary Club and Scouts Jamboree.

And no Jubilee celebration would be complete without a crown competition! Thank you to all the children that came along with their crown or made crowns at the event. The high standard of craft skills definitely made Chairman Cllr Bob Todd’s job of judging more difficult! Finally, a huge thanks to our community warden and litter pickers who turned up early the next morning to clear the park.
