Spitals Cross Playground – Refurbishment Project 2019

We are consulting with people who live on the Spitals Cross estate about plans to update the children’s playground on Farmstead Drive next year. There is approx. £90,000 available for the project, from the Town Council and partner funding.

With the help of West Kent Housing Association in 2015 we previously asked the wider community what kind of play items they would like, but the project was put on hold. Now the District Council which owns the land has given the go-ahead.

The proposal is to provide multiplay equipment for two different age-groups, 0-5 years and 6-13 years. (There is already a multi-games court on the estate for older children.) Based on replies from the previous consultation we plan to provide:

  • For younger children: multiplay to include slide and swings, a see-saw, and games on vertical boards
  • For older children: multiplay to include (curly?) slide and swings; adventure activity such as climbing net,   obstacle course; games hoop
  • For either age group: Accessible roundabout for all abilities, and a basket/pod swing.

A picnic table, seating, litter bins, and new fencing will also be included.

Please let us know by Friday 25 January what you think of the proposal – we are especially keen to hear children’s views.

Leaflets have been dropped to residents of Spitals Cross, please return your answers on this leaflet to the Town Council office at Doggetts Barn, 72A High Street, Edenbridge, OR e-mail your comments to  information@edenbridgetowncouncil.gov.uk  OR drop the leaflet into the collecting box in the Londis shop, near the playground on Farmstead Drive.
