With a new Council having started its term in May, we felt it was a timely opportunity to bring our visual identity up to date.
Chairman Cllr Bob Todd said: “As we continually look to improve our communications and engagement with our local community, we want to make it easier for residents to recognise the Council’s work. Our new image is an important expression of our purpose and character, and will help us to reflect a consistent and professional image while demonstrating accountability and sharing our achievements.”
The Council’s refreshed identity includes a new logo, which has been designed by local creative James Turner at Black Spiral Design who also delivered our tourism brand – Visit Edenbridge.
“The new logo takes inspiration from the Visit Edenbridge identity but applies a more restrained and corporate style,” says James. “The emphasis is on clean and clear typography accompanied by a single icon symbolising the heritage with the bridge as a key feature of the town. However this icon is rendered in a more modern, simple style to provide a more contemporary feel.”
The primary Teal colour was chosen to link with the Visit Edenbridge identity, as well as the Sevenoaks district. A complementary colour palette has also been created, which takes inspiration from our local surroundings such as the blue for water and parchment for natural materials.
The old crest logo (below) had become outdated, was not easily applied to professional publications, and had no reference to the Town Council name.
As we take a phased approach to rolling out the new logo, you may still see our old crest around; in order not to generate unnecessary cost, the logo will be updated on certain inventory as and when that piece is due to be upgraded.
