Award-winning open spaces
The Town Council maintains much of the open spaces around Edenbridge, and we are proud to have won several awards in recognition of our work.
Mowshurst and Millennium Wood
Nestled in the north of Edenbridge, just off Four Elms Road, Mowshurst is home to Nomads Football Club and a beautiful natural woodland Millennium Wood – offering a peaceful escape into nature. This special part of Edenbridge provides a tranquil space for walking, wildlife spotting, and enjoying the great outdoors. Whether you’re visiting for a match or looking for a peaceful retreat, Mowshurst is a place for all to enjoy.
Nature Trail and Art Adventure
In 2025 we created a Nature Trail and Art Adventure – suitable for all ages – to learn more about the woodland and the variety of wildlife, flora and fauna that thrives in the woodland. Children will especially have fun looking out for the ten plaques nestled on wooden posts. Download our printable Nature Art Adventure Booklet, or bring along your own paper and crayons, and rub gently over the plaques to reveal what’s there. If you look closely enough you will also spot some bug/insect hotels around the woodland!
History
Once part of Great Mowshurst Farm, the site was transformed in 1997 when the Town Council set out to create something special beyond the football pitches. The project began with the restoration of a large pond, followed by the creation of scenic pathways winding through the five-acre site. The final stage saw the planting of around 2,000 young trees, primarily native to the Weald, described as “a lasting gift from one millennium to another.”
Today, these trees have flourished into a thriving natural woodland, providing a tranquil space for walking, wildlife spotting, and enjoying the great outdoors. Whether you’re visiting for a match or looking for a peaceful retreat, Mowshurst is a place for all to enjoy.
Award-winning
Millennium Wood continues to be recognised for its natural beauty and biodiversity, receiving a Silver Award at the South and South East in Bloom Awards 2024. We have also been awarded £25,600 (distributed over six-years) from the Football Foundation to support the maintenance and improvement of our two football pitches at Mowshurst.
Stangrove Park
Right in the heart of Edenbridge, Stangrove Park is the perfect spot for outdoor fun and relaxation. The park features a lovely children’s playground, an outdoor gym to keep active, and exciting street snooker and basketball shooting areas for all to enjoy.
Located right next door to Edenbridge Leisure Centre, it’s a great place to combine play, fitness, and family time. Whether you’re looking for a place to unwind, let the kids burn off some energy, or enjoy a workout in the fresh air, Stangrove Park has something for everyone. Look out for our Family Fun Days held in the park over the summer!
Award-winning
After receiving a Silver Gilt award in 2023, the park has gone one step further and earned the coveted Gold Award for 2024 in the South and South East in Bloom Awards. The judges were impressed by the meticulously maintained grounds, signage and accessibility, and overall community involvement.
Recreation Ground
Located on the west side of town, just off Lingfield Road, Edenbridge Recreation Ground is a fantastic open space for families, sports enthusiasts, and dog walkers alike.
Home to Edenbridge Rugby Football Club, the Recreation Ground features rugby and football pitches, as well as a sports pavilion. In summer 2022, a brand-new playground was installed, boasting 23 exciting play features (including a zip-wire), designed to spark creativity and adventure for children of all ages – from toddlers to teenagers. We have secured funding from the Football Foundation to help us sustain the quality of our five football pitches at the ground.
With its spacious open fields and scenic surroundings, the Recreation Ground is a great place to enjoy a relaxing stroll with your dog. Whether you’re looking for a place to play, train, or simply take in the fresh air, this is a space for everyone to enjoy.
Community events are often held at the Recreation Ground, including the town’s famous Bonfire Night celebrations.
Blossoms Park
In the south on Mill Hill there is Blossoms Park, home of Edenbridge Cricket Club, and also the location of a skate ramp facility. No dogs are allowed unless kept strictly on a lead and walked around the perimeter of the ground. Parking is provided for park users only and no overnight parking is allowed.
Marsh Green
At Marsh Green there is another small playground on the Village Green which the Town Council maintains, along with the Green itself.
Spitals Cross playground
A fourth playground is off Farmstead Drive on the Spitals Cross estate in Edenbridge.
Stangrove Estate playground
There is a further playground off Park View on the Stangrove Estate, which is owned and maintained by Sevenoaks District Council.
