Town Council Services
The Town Council plays an active role in managing and maintaining a range of services and facilities for the residents of Edenbridge. We also work in partnership with community organisations and agencies to enhance the quality of life in Edenbridge and ensure it remains a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work, and visit. Our responsibilities include:
Allotments, Car Parks and Toilets
We manages allotments at Forge Croft and Swan Lane, as well as some of the town’s car parks and public toilets.
Cemetery and Open Spaces
The Town Council oversees the management of Edenbridge Cemetery and various parks and playgrounds, such as Stangrove Park, Recreation Ground, Blossoms Park (including the skate park), Marsh Green, Mowshurst, and Millennium Wood, among others. We also maintain several open spaces and local sporting facilities across the parish.
Community Safety and Partnerships
We work closely with other agencies through initiatives such as Partners and Communities Together (PACT), and are involved in community projects like Dementia Friendly Edenbridge. The council also has an Emergency Planning Committee to respond to urgent needs, and our Community Warden works closely with Kent Police and local beat officers in Edenbridge.
Community Services and Community Warden
The Town Council provides local services like selling garden waste sacks, managing Rickards Hall for event hire, and running the Thursday Charter Market. Additionally, we run the Monday Games Club, a social group for residents over 55. Our Community Warden plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the local environment and promoting community safety, and can often be seen around town.
Grants and Funding
Through community grants and the allocation of CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) funding, the Council supports local projects and groups that benefit residents.
Planning and Consultations
The Town Council plays a key role in local planning matters, providing input on Edenbridge planning applications and external consultations.
Street Lighting and Infrastructure
Approximately half of the town’s streetlights and five bus shelters are maintained by the Council. We also maintain street furniture and hanging baskets.
Tourism and Local Information
We manage the Visit Edenbridge website and publish the Town Guide to support tourism and provide information to both visitors and residents.
