With much regret Cllr Bob Orridge has tendered his resignation from the Council. He has served for 16 years as a Town Council member and for 12 years on the District Council. He has enjoyed this time and will continue to take an interest in the future of the town. He has been especially helpful in guiding members’ thoughts on aviation, having previously being employed in the sector, and has campaigned to see the new medical facility come to the town.
Notices will be posted on 4 June, to advertise the vacancy in the South & West Ward. Residents have until 24 June to write to the District Council should they wish an election to be held, and if ten or more do so, an election will be held. If not, the Council will advertise for residents who wish to be considered for co-option, and formally consider them at a Council meeting.
