Exciting new play area for the Recreation Ground

Recreation Ground Playground Refurbishment and Extension

Edenbridge Town Council is delighted to announce the award of a contract for a new playground at the Recreation Ground to HAGS.  The successful submission is a design which allows for a children’s play area for all ages to play together, catering for all abilities and individual confidence levels, as well as creating a new area for the older children and teenagers.  “The project aims to provide a play space the community can be proud of,” says Cllr Bob Todd, Chairman of the Council.

The refurbishment is part of Council’s ongoing maintenance programme and commitment to provided Edenbridge community with quality facilities. The specification was created having consulted with the users of the parks and other children’s and youth groups with the aim to find out what people would use and like to see in the park.  This went out to public tender.

HAGS interpreted the brief to provide a design with innovative equipment choices, a stimulating natural play environment, and to cater for inclusivity and accessibility.  “The Town Council is really excited by this project and work is hoped to commence in May 2022,” says Cllr Todd.

Funding for the £160,000 project has come from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds, sourced from local development projects. A further £14k has been awarded to secure a children’s play Jeep and some additional surfacing.
