Edenbridge Town Council Market Team

Edenbridge Town Council has been crowned Small Market Team of the Year at this year’s NABMA Awards.

The annual awards recognise exceptional leadership, innovation, resilience, partnership working and commitment to local communities across the UK markets sector.

Since taking over management of Edenbridge Market in 2021, NABMA recognised how the team has delivered significant growth, increased trader numbers and introduced measures designed to make the market more accessible to both traders and visitors. The team was particularly recognised for its hands-on and personal approach, support for start-ups and younger entrepreneurs, and the strong relationships it has built with its trader community.

Running the market is a true team effort, with members of the office staff, Grounds Team and dedicated Market Officer, supported by councillors, all working together to ensure its success.

About NABMA

NABMA – The National Association of British Market Authorities – is the voice of markets, and the force behind campaigns such as Love Your Local Market. For more than 100 years, NABMA has worked with a range of organisations on an international, national and regional level.

Its work on the national stage has achieved high profile recognition for markets by Government on a wide range of major policy areas. Due to this work, markets are now referenced in the Government’s Planning Policy Framework and secured major recognition in the Mary Portas report which led to the Love Your Local Market campaign. This annual campaign has now been adopted worldwide and reaches millions of people in the UK every year.

NABMA is a member of the Government’s Retail Markets’ Forum and has now relaunched the All Party Parliamentary Markets’ Group with support from a wide range of Members of Parliament.
