Edenbridge Town Council is actively engaged in the evolving discussions on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) across Kent. From the very first Government announcement in December 2024, we have taken a proactive stance, placing LGR as a regular item at our Full Council meetings and working closely with Sevenoaks District Council (SDC) to represent the interests of our town.
We are monitoring developments closely and, should district-level responsibilities change, we will explore how Edenbridge can best protect and enhance the services that matter most to our residents. These include non-statutory services such as leisure, youth support, and community wellbeing, which – while not legally required – are vital to the spirit and daily life of our town.
We are proud that Edenbridge already manages many local assets including parks, open spaces, and sports pitches. As more details emerge, we will continue to work with community partners to ensure Edenbridge has a strong voice in shaping the future.
We will be posting updates regularly on a new section of our website dedicated to Local Government Reorganisation (Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation – Edenbridge Town Council). Residents are encouraged to view the page and follow the Council’s updates as the situation develops.
