iron archway with words Edenbridge Market

We’re pleased to unveil our new archway at Market Yard car park, marking the entrance to Edenbridge’s weekly Thursday market.

The archway has been installed to give our historic market, established in 1227, the prominence it deserves. The project also forms part of the Council’s 130th anniversary celebrations. It was made possible thanks to funding from Sevenoaks District Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund 2025.

We’re especially grateful to The Village Forge, Ashurst Wood for their design and craftsmanship, and to the team from DK Group who carried out the installation, including groundworks by Neale Turner.

Edenbridge Market

Don’t forget, Edenbridge Market takes place every Thursday. Come along, support your local traders, and see the new archway for yourself.

UK Prosperity Fund

The Council commissioned this project in 2025 having applied for funding from the government’s UK Prosperity Fund (available until March 2025). The fund is about levelling up opportunity and prosperity across the country – fundamentally about levelling up people’s pride in the places they love. The money should be invested in three priority areas, which we were successful in showing: communities and place, support for local businesses, and people and skills.

The archway is designed to raise the profile of Edenbridge Market, bringing it closer to the High Street, and to help our community take pride in its long history. It is also a 2025 legacy project to mark the 130th anniversary of Edenbridge Town Council.

The new archway therefore carries the two dates – 1227 and 2025.
