Funding boost kicks off improvements for football pitches

Football pitch with goal post
Football pitch at Mowshurst

Following last year’s praise for the quality of our football pitches at the Recreation Ground, we’re thrilled to now have been awarded £25,600 (distributed over six-years) from the Football Foundation to support the maintenance and improvement of our two football pitches at Mowshurst, home of Nomads Football Club.

Our Grounds Team, along with our apprentice, are eager to put the Football Foundation’s recommendations into action. This will include work such as seeding, fertiliser application, twice-yearly decompaction, goal mouth repairs and online staff training.

We hope that the improvements will be well-received by the community

Back of the net! It’s a win for Edenbridge’s football pitches

Head Groundsman and Chairman Cllr Bob Todd presented with plaque from Kent FA

Our Head Groundsman and Chairman Cllr Bob Todd have been presented with a wall plaque on behalf of the Council for achieving a ‘good’ standard for all five of the football pitches at the Recreation Ground, Lingfield Road following a recent PitchPower assessment.
The Council is now eligible to apply for a 100% grant of £16,896 from the Football Foundation to help sustain the pitches at this level.

The Football Foundation’s goal is to ensure grassroots football has 20,000 ‘good’ quality pitches to enjoy by 2030. They can provide grants for ‘good’ pitches to maintain their quality standard, and to ‘poor’ or ‘basic’ pitches to help them make improvements.

This is great news for Edenbridge and for the many players that use the pitches.
