Sevenoaks District Council’s (SDC) Development and Infrastructure Advisory Committee has published its agenda pack for their meeting on 23 September. The papers published for this meeting include details of the sites under consideration for inclusion in the Local Plan, including additional sites in Edenbridge. SDC Development & Infrastructure Advisory Committee.

At this meeting, the Committee will consider the draft Local Plan and the Regulation 18 (3) delivery plan and consultation.

If approved, the public consultation is expected to run for seven weeks from 23 October.

The Regulation 18 consultation will be run entirely by Sevenoaks District Council, who are the local planning authority responsible for creating the Local Plan. SDC will publish all consultation documents, manage the formal response process, and collect feedback from residents, businesses, and organisations across the district. Edenbridge Town Council, like other town and parish councils, community groups, and individual residents, will participate as a consultee in this process. This means we will review the proposals and submit our own formal response to SDC, but we are not involved in running or managing the consultation itself. Our role is to represent Edenbridge’s interests by providing detailed feedback on how the proposed policies and site allocations might affect our town and its residents.

Edenbridge Town Council will also work with SDC to ensure residents have plenty of opportunities to view the Regulation 18 consultation documents. This will include Edenbridge Town Council hosting sessions where residents can discuss the proposals with councillors. Dates for these sessions will be shared once the meeting outcome is confirmed and the proposals are approved by Cabinet on 9 October.

While the Town Council cannot adopt a formal position until it has fully reviewed the proposals, we will work closely with our planning consultant to examine the documents and prepare our response.
